Rex Dictionary Addin 0.7a (Readme File) Instructions Download the new release from John Del Ferro's site : http://www.geocities.com/jdelferro/rex/ After decompressing the package you will find 13 files. STEP 1 Load " rexdic.rex " to your rex , using "Rex Tools" - this is the addin - DO NOT try to start it BEFORE loading the other files, rex will crash . STEP 2 (for those whishing to use provided " Dutch -> English " Files). If you want to use other Dictionary files SKIP this step to STEP 5. Edit each file (except rexdic.rex) in a text editor (wordpad ,notepad e.t.c). To do that simply select each file and rightclick it. Then use windows explorer's "OPEN WITH" command and then choose Wordpad. Select EVERYTHING in the file and copy/paste it in a BLANK note in MS OUTLOOK 2000\2002. When done with all 12 files proceed to step 3 STEP 3 In your Outlook " Notes Section " you must now have 12 notes with following names DUEN_00_NDX DUEN_01 DUEN_02 DUEN_03 . . . . DUEN_11 1) Right click note " DUEN_00_NDX " select "Categories" then choose "Master Category List" Create a category named " RD_NDX " and assign this note to this category It is very importand that the category name is all CAPITAL letters 2) Now create another category -using same proceedure as above- named "DUEN_DICT" all capital letters and assign the rest notes (DUEN_01 -to- DUEN_11) in this STEP 4 Synchronize your rex to ?utlook using INTELLISYNC . Enjoy this wonderfull addin STEP5 (for those wishing to use other dictionary files or make there own dictionary files ONLY) 1) Create the dictionary files and NAME them as you wish (SEE STEP 6 !!!) The format of the notes at THIS version MUST have all definitions on the same line as the word. Each new word starts on a new line. Like THIS: aaien\stroke, fondle, caress, chuck, barge, maple,Rhine-barge aakschipper\barge-master, elver, eel, muck-water aalbes\currant, currant-bush aalbesseblad\currant-leaf aalbesseboompje\currant-bush NOT THIS: aaien\stroke, fondle, caress, chuck barge, maple, Rhine-barge aakschipper\barge-master elver, eel, muck-water aalbes\currant, currant-bush aalbesseblad\currant-leaf aalbesseboompje\currant-bush Place these notes under one CATEGORY of your choise (see STEP 6 !!!) STEP 6 > Create an INDEX file. It's name can be ANYTHING_NDX and will be the FIRST line on an Outlook note . > The SECOND line of the index file will provide the type of the dictionary file as it will appear when starting the addin in REX (e.g. DUCH -> ENGLISH). It is NOT case sensitive > The THIRD line provides the name of the CATEGORY under which the dictionary files HAVE BEEN be placed (SEE STEP 5 !!!) Be carefull that the name must be EAXCTLY the same AND CASE SENSITIVE > The following lines MUST be the EXACT names of the dictionary files in their EXACT Alphabetical order and are CASE SENSITIVE > LAST line must be #END > Place this File under " RD_NDX " Category GENERAL The following must be taken also into accound : > The Dictionary Search Feature is ONLY ONE WAY (e.g DUTCH -> ENGLISH will search only the Dutch keywords ) > If using more than one set of dictionary files then each set must be placed in its OWN category as it is defined on the THIRD line in IT's Index File (read step 6) > All INDEX files MUST be placed in same category named "RD_NDX" > You can choose which dictionary you wish to be loaded from the REXDIC menu (REX)
